2019 Scholarship Winners

Jonathan Sarver, Jr. and Zuri Anderson

The North Carolina scholarship winner, Jonathan Sarver, Jr., is from Mooresville, North Carolina. He graduated from the Crossroads Arts and Science Early College School in Statesville, NC. A program there allowed him to earn his high school diploma while at the same time earning an Associate Arts degree from Mitchell Community College. He entered Elon University in the fall of 2018 with two years of college credit. Sarver is a Dean’s List student. He works for Elon’s Sports Information Department. In addition, he hosts a show produced by WSOE-FM, Elon University’s student run radio station.

The South Carolina recipient, Zuri Anderson, is a senior honors student at Winthrop University. Anderson has had numerous articles and book reviews published in a variety of publications. She spent four months in the spring of 2018 attending the University of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia in a program about Australian media studies as well as the history and culture of the country. The Hanahan, SC, native has also worked for two years at the student newspaper.
